As a new season approaches you, it is now the perfect time to start cleaning your poultry house and disinfect it to prevent any diseases and remove harmful bacteria, viruses and biofilms before chicks are placed. This process must happen at least once and is crucial if you want to bring in new breeds.
This process contains several steps that must happen in order to have a complete job with no failures. The first step is to remove all birds from the building or the poultry house along with the equipment that needs to be cleaned such as the waterers and feeders.
Then we start with the “Dry Cleaning” by sweeping and vacuuming ceilings, walls, floor and clean all feeders and equipment from any dust or litter. Cleaning filters is a very important part of this step as dust can easily clog the filters and burn the motors.
Afterward, we start with the “Wet Cleaning “step by making sure there is no electricity in the building so there won’t be any accidents when cleaning with water, and then we clean by soaking, washing, and rinsing. Using hot or warm water will help in deep cleaning and using cheap organic detergent won’t be a problem. A low-pressure sprayer will be the perfect equipment to use for soaking the heavily soiled area. Then wash everything with solutions that can be either a neutral detergent or alkaline detergent. You can either wash using a high-pressure sprayer or manual scrubbing using a stiff brush is known as one of the best ways.
Finally, you need to rinse immediately after washing and let everything air-dry in order to start disinfecting as it is a crucial step and can be applied using sprays, aerosols, or fumigation. While applying disinfection you must follow the manufacturer’s directions for mixing and dilution of these disinfectants so you won’t harm any poultry or chicks.
